Hi Barb!

It was beautiful here, too. Especially Saturday.

Took R to the doctor; she has strep throat. Not fun getting her to take her medicine. We got the first dose down now, anyway.

N hasn't eaten much yet, but he seems to be on the mend. I picked up his homework, so he can work on that this afternoon.

Hubby was able to walk to the car. I put a chair out in the upstairs hall and he sat there for a bit then he came down the stairs and sat in the chair I put there in the foyer. And then he made it to the car by using my son's shoulders as a walker. Once we got to the doctor's office we got a wheelchair for him. Once he was in the doctor's room he was able to lie down and that is what he did and how the doctor tended to him.

The doctor ordered blood work and an ultrasound. The ultrasound is March 19th at 9 am. If they see a lot of fluid they will drain the fluid there at that time. The doctor said hospice can be called when there is only 6 months left to live and that that may be getting close for my husband. He said he would know more after the tests.

I asked for a hospital bed for my husband. The doctor wrote out a script now I just have to see if the insurance will pay for it.

Sorry R has strep throat Dee.

The doctor said hubby may be near the last 6 months of his life. I asked him about hospice and he said that doesn't come in until the last six months and that my husband may be near that stage now. He gave him a script for pain med but that pain med didn't help so I called him back and asked for a stronger pain med. Will be going shortly to get that.

The kids know their dad only has so much time left on earth and are banding together to see how they will help during the upcoming months to make his life better and to help me in taking care of their dad. We are discussing seeing if hubby's sister and aunt want to come out and see him.

They took blood work today and have an ultrasound scheduled so I will wait for this to come in before contacting hubby's family.

My husband cried. He did not realize how close he was to not being here anymore and we told him. We didn't keep it from him. We are asking for his cooperation with the doctors and his care.

My oldest son was great in helping us today. I couldn't have managed without his help. Hubby is a big man.

Hello, ladies. Thanks for starting us out this week, Dee. I've not been in for a few days, but I've been busy, so really not much time.

We had beautiful spring weather here this weekend too, Barb, and even nicer today. This afternoon Garrett & I sat in the backyard and he rode his tricycle all over the yard . . that was so pleasant for both of us! Last year he couldn't push it at all, today he went all over with it.

Ginny, I'm glad you finally got him to the doctor. I hope you can get the hospital bed, as well as some other help you are needing with his care. Good to hear about your success with the linens, too. When Bill was at the VA hospital for his heart test Friday, the tech got blood all over his shirt sleeve -- pretty much soaked a very large area. He told us to soak it in salt water. Hadn't heard this before, but it worked!! Very well, in fact! Not a smidgen of blood left on it after an overnight soak.

Dee, I'm sorry to hear the kids have been sick again. The crud sure does seem to have made it's way around this winter. I hope R takes her meds and recovers quickly -- didnt' she just have strep?? . . and that N continues to feel better.

Judy, I sure hope you & hubby are both feeling much better now, and that goes for you, too, Melissa. You guys have all had a round of troubles -- goodness!

Bill now has the crud . . been crouping all weekend, and neither of us got much sleep as a result. He stopped tonight & got some Robitussin Cough & Cold -- his sister said that really has been knocking theirs, so hopefully will work.

Maggie, hope you're getting lots of rest -- not heard a thing from you all day, so figure you must be sleeping the day away

Hi everyone.
Ginny, you are in my thoughts and prayers. I am glad you got him in to see the doctor. Hospice generally is used for those who have been given six months or less, but my mil lived for over two years under their care. I am also a firm believer that doctors are limited whereas God is not. I dont understand a doctor diagnosing a person with a terminal illness and giving them a "time", and I don't really like for them to do that. No one knows, except our Heavenly Father. And, rest assured none of us will live here on this earth one breath longer than the good Lord intends for us to.Regardless of what a doctor may say.
My day started out fine but in the last four hours I have been battling a migraine. I think I went five days migraine free until now. On a happier note, though, my husband has surprised me once again. He has driven several hours out of his way to come home. I am so thankful for my husband. He sees my struggles and is really trying hard to make things easier for me.
Sorry about all of you who are dealing with colds, flu, and such. Hope tomorrow is a better and brighter day for each of you.

Ginny, I'm sorry to hear the news about your husband, even though it wasn't unexpected. I'm glad, though, that he went to the doctor and I hope that, in facing the prospect of his death, he will give greater consideration to his relationship with God and with you. I will pray for that.

Yeah, Linda, I was in bed all day. Not doing too well--emotionally more than physically. That's cool about Garrett riding his tricycle! I"m sorry to hear Bill is sick. Poor guy!

I'm glad some of you are getting nice weather. It's nice here for this time of year too. The snow has been melting a bit. We may get an early spring.

Sorry to hear R has strep throat, Dee, but glad N seems to be on the mend.

Hi Barb!

Hi everyone else!

Oh! I just noticed I didn't see all the posts.

Melissa, I'm sorry to hear that you are once more battling a migraine. Wow. You really get a lot of them, don't you? {{{{{{{{Melissa}}}}}}}} That's awesome that your husband went out of his way for you! Good to have a husband like that. You are blessed.

Ginny, what a hard day for everyone; I'm glad that your family is coming together to be helpful.

Melissa, I'm sorry you have another migraine. How nice of your hubby to come home!

(((((Maggie)))))

Leah, I hope you and hubby get better sleep tonight. Interesting about the salt water; I'll have to remember that. How fun watching Garrett learn new things!

Judy, hope y'all are doing OK!

I think R will be feeling a lot better tomorrow; she'll probably be unhappy about having to stay home (need 24 hour on the antibiotic before she goes back). She'll go Wednesday and Thursday, then spring break. So hopefully she can get all rested up next week and stay well.

Leah, no, she didn't have strep recently, but earlier in February she was sick with a sore throat and upper respiratory stuff. I probably posted that another child in her class had strep, so I hoped she didn't have it. Then she had the stomach bug a couple of weeks ago. So I think she is rundown and catching bugs that come her way easily.

I'm tired, I got 3 hours of sleep last night. I laid down this afternoon for an hour or a little less.

Dee

Good morning, y'all.
Gargling with the warm salty water is what helped Alex be able to eat the pudding a few weeks ago. He was very sick that week, so I know how exhausting that can be. Hope all will be better today.
Yes, Maggie, I seem to be getting these migraines rather frequently. I went from September to January without one. Now, I am being hit again. It is very frustrating. God has been very good to me, though. I have two more full days to work then Thursday I will be back to part time. Believe me, Thursday will not get here soon enough for me.
Ginny, I think it is great that your sons stepped in to help them. This must be very hard for all of you. Please know you all are in my thoughts and prayers today.
I am very aggravated with my clinic. I called last week to check on my status with getting this migraine medicine. They could not find my paperwork! They could not even remember if they faxed my paperwork! I had to do the process all over again and it takes six to eight weeks for approval. That bites!
Blessings to each of you today. And, praying for all of you as well.

Morning all!! Back from my last bout of illness. I will never figure out what caused that. I don't know if it is part of this junk or I caught something else on top of it. Was in bed all day yesterday. Believe it or not, I don't get sick that often and never for this long. Next year I am getting whatever flu shots they offer. Still have the cough. I am reading here that so many seem to be getting that cough. Barb I am so glad your illness went away so quickly! I pray it does turn out to be what dh and I have been going through. The good news is it seems to have stayed pretty much with us. Praise God!! I thank you all for wishing us well.

Dee I was so sorry to hear that your daughter has strep. That is such a miserable thing for her to have to suffer through. I pray it doesn't spread throughout the family.

Ginny, what a sad time you are dealing with!
My husband cried. He did not realize how close he was to not being here anymore and we told him. We didn't keep it from him.
My heart goes out to you and your dh.

Melissa!!! As usual, you and I have the same thoughts on this. We must aways remember "with God all things are possible".

Yeah, Linda, I was in bed all day. Not doing too well--emotionally more than physically.

((((Maggie))))

My day started out fine but in the last four hours I have been battling a migraine

Melissa, I pray today will be a better one for you!

Bill now has the crud . . been crouping all weekend, and neither of us got much sleep as a result. He stopped tonight & got some Robitussin Cough & Cold -- his sister said that really has been knocking theirs, so hopefully will work.

Linda, I hope your Robitussin helps. I can't began to tell you how many bottles of cough syrup or bags of cough drops we have been through!! How miserable!

Today I am going to try and find somebody to fix my dishwasher. I am so upset with this high dollar items going bad so quickly. I have read it may cost as much as 450 dollars to fix it. I don't know if I want to put that kind of money out or not. I called Bosch about it and they were no help at all. Won't give me an estimate or tell me if it is possible to fix it ourselves. The part only costs 67 dollars. I wish we had kept our old clunker.

Have a happy day everyone!!

Good Tues. Morning Everyone

It's so nice to hear folks are enjoying this spring like weather
We have fog and rain the rest of the week. But that;s OK because it will get rid of the snow cover. We have had snow cover for 95 days now..want to see it gone.

Still suffering from this blasted cold I got Sat. afternoon. Seems to take me down around noonish everyday. Coughing, wheezing, sneezing, tired, achy all over feeling, cold, hot, stuffed up, yucky cold virus. Then to top it off.. I got my monthly
I hav'ent had a cold for a couple years now. Told hubby next time he is sick I will sleep on the sofa so he does'ent share it with me.
So all who are sick..I sent up a prayer for everyone..and one for Ginny's husband to find peace with his time left on earth.

Hallelujah! Hallelujah! I am up, dressed, (and in something other than sweats or p.j.'s), put make-up on and have done quite a bit of housework. Being sick sure does make one appreciate being well again! Lets just hope it takes this time.

Still suffering from this blasted cold I got Sat. afternoon. Seems to take me down around noonish everyday. Coughing, wheezing, sneezing, tired, achy all over feeling, cold, hot, stuffed up, yucky cold virus.

Sure hope that is just a cold, Barb! Ours started like that and, after two rounds of medicine for both of us, we are still fighting it off.

I have my windows open today and am enjoying the sounds of spring. Somebody has a chain saw running. There is always one going around here. Looks like the rains may hold off another day. "God's in His heaven, alls right with the world"

Reading back it looks like I missed a lot of your posts wishing me well. ((((((BIG group hug))))). Melissa, I even missed the one about taking care of me That was so sweet. I'll bet you would too!!!

Well, I know more housework is waiting.

Good morning, ladies. Goodness, it sounds like a mess of crud going on around here -- do you reckon this would be as cyber-virus???? . . . Judy, that sounds like quite a set-back you had -- it's sure good to hear you're doing so much better today. And Barb, it really does sound as tho you may have the same thing. Bill was not any better this morning, still coughing, tho it maybe have been a bit more productive this morning. Sheesh! He woke me gently around 4:00 a.m. to tell me I was snoring . . said his coughing hadn't even interrupted me . . . I obligingly moved to the recliner to allow him to get some sleep in the bed.m I slept well even after I moved, but I did wake with a backache again. Don't know why the recliner is hurting my back now when I've slept pretty good in it for the last year or two.

Garrett is all ready for the bus and waiting impatiently. He's being bother some by the device in his bad eye . . told me this morning that his eye had a boo-boo and needed to go to the 'ho-pi-tal' . . so cute! I could find nothing in it (other than the device), and it wasn't red or runny, so I put some artificial tears in it and will send him on to school. He's been talking so much lately -- so cute. Yesterday he told me I was going to fast, and then said the oncoming traffic was 'going to wrong way!' . . . he's quite the character.

I've been remembering you all in prayer . . . I sure hope we can all start claiming some good reports very soon.

{{{{{{{Ginny}}}}}}}}} I hope you find out some positive things from the doctor soon, and that you're able to obtain some help from Social services, and the med. supply store.

Hey..do we have a cyber virus going around all of us? Seems we all have the colds, flu. ect. Better spray our puters down with Lysol
I am feeling a tad better today. I'm sure it's just a cold I am fighting. Altho the weezing concerns me some. If it's not better on Thur. I will call the doctor. Mabey get in Friday evening. If ya run in to fast there is usually nothing that show's up.

Leah, thats so cute about Garrett..is'ent it neat to see them grow? I watch Hailey, who will be 2 years old the end of this month. I got her potty trainned now, and we are working on her pulling up and down her pants..and getting up and down on the toilet. And Ilyssa is turning into a sweet baby. Not so demanding anymore and all smiles Got her sleeping in the big crib, insted of the carseat ,and trying to hold her bottle. She is gonna be 6 months old the end of this month. Did I ever mention how blessed I feel to beable to watch kids? Or that I really love kids? LOL

My Cody missed out on being picked for the National Honor Society. They cut the count down from five Juniors a year to one Junior a year. He worked so hard for it.He is second in his class and could'ent be honored for it. Guess it does'ent matter..I'm still proud of him and he will have no problem getting into a college. His ACT test score was very good.
So far he is driveing very good again. Guess our little talk helped. He had been comeing home from work and trying to train the puppy. Working on laying, staying, no jumping or biteing.

Pam is missing her grandson. He daughter and son-in-law and Jaxson live two hours north of her. She is haveing "gramma withdrawal's" Poor gramma

Whew, thank You, Lord for helping me make it through the work day. I've had better days but I guess it could have been much worse....
Sorry Barb about your son missing out on the National Honor Society. I mailed in Nicholas' paper work for the NHS the other day. If he keeps up the grades, he will graduate with honors in May. I am a proud mama! Alex, on the other hand, has much potential if he would apply himself. He does not like school and it shows in his attitude and grades. I will be lucky to see him get out of nineth grade this year. I get very frustrated with that one!
Judy, so glad to hear you are feeling some better. You may have had an additional bug with the flu. Yes, it might be wise to get the flu shots next year.
Hope that all will be better for all of you. It's definately no fun to be sick .
Love to all!

Hi all!

Thanks for the prayers!I hope everyone is on the mend soon, praying!

Judy, don't do too much! I'm sorry you are having dishwasher trouble. That is one reason it took us so long to buy a new one; it just seems like everything is made so cheaply.

Ginny, how are things today?

Barb, too bad about your son not getting recognized. You, he, and those around him know how hard he has worked no matter what! I'm sure he'll be getting some great scholarship!

N is back in school today, and R is feeling better. So far I haven't had to sit on her to get her to take her medicine. I hope no one else gets sick, or sick again.

Melissa, praying Thursday comes quickly for you, and for your migraines.

I started this post hours ago, and never finished it, so we'll see what I missed....

I tried to post earlier but got to laughing too hard over the cyber virus comment, Linda.
Barb, I know what a disappointment that is. Our two oldest daughters were straight A all the way through school but the oldest didn't make it til senior year and the other old never did get picked. Our youngest was on but got in with bad kids and her grades went down and they kicked her off. Still you, and you too Melissa, can be so proud they have made such good grades and have so much potential.

it just seems like everything is made so cheaply

That is so absolutely true, Dee. They almost force you into buying extended warrenty and that is not cheap (better read the small print too). This dishwasher is only 4 and a half years old and is one of the best on the market. I even looked up on consumer reports and it is still listed as the best AND one of the more expensive ones.

Melissa, so sorry you are still suffering. You know when I had this last bout Sunday night I also got this excruciating headache with it. It would radiate across my shoulders and shoot up into my head. Dh was afraid I was having a heart attack. I thought immediately of you and Maggie. You sure have my prayers.

Ginny, how are things today?
I've had a good day. Two of my adult children took be out to breakfast this morning at Denny's. They were having a Lumberjack Grand Slam special where if you buy two drinks the Slam was buy one get one free. DS2 bought one for himself and that made mine free. He paid for my cappuccino too. Did you know Denny's gives free refills for cappuccinos? They do and I had 3 by that time I just didn't have room for another. My daughter and DS2 and I talked about things and both said I need to be careful how I talk to Z, my teen.

Hubby has been depressed today. Kinda down and in the dumps. He did eat half a sandwich for lunch and is eating his supper now. I fixed him ranch chicken and broccoli with cheese sauce. I will try to make good meals and keep things up around here.

My daughter was going to help me clean my room today but we both fell asleep after that big breakfast and sleep until 2 pm too late to get started on the room. Instead this afternoon I've been calling places to get things going for disability for hubby and me. If I can get us on disability we will have medicare early and we could sure use that for all the medical costs we have and will have.

Barb, It is a shame only one junior can be in National Honor Society. Do you think maybe Cody could get into it as a senior? Surely they allow more than one senior to get in.

Dee, that's great that N is back in school and that you are not having a problem getting R to take her meds. I can remember how hard it can be to get meds down a child's throat. They can be stubborn about opening up their mouths and swallowing.

Melissa, migraines are no fun. Take care of yourself and get the rest you need. And try to stay calm at work.

Hi Judy, your dishwasher is bad? Bummer I hate washing dishes.

Linda, Garrett is a doll. Enjoy while you can.

Maggie, hope your new mattress is beginning to work out for you.

Good morning to all. Hopefully, each of you are waking up to a beautiful day outside. Yesterday reached to 76! I've not noticed flowers blooming yet but I can hear alot of birds singing. I saw blue jays and cardinals, a sure sign Spring has sprung around here. I guess the next thing to be concerned with weather related are thunderstorms and tornadoes. YUK! I love the sound of soft, gentle rain but not thunder and lightning.
So glad it is Wednesday. Last day for our tenants to pay rent at work so I will be busy, busy, busy. I am waking up to the migraine lingering but not so bad. Lord, just help me make it through this day...
Ginny, hoping you recieve good news about the disability benefits. Sorry that hubby is depressed, but that is understandable. I can't remember if you've ever said he is a believer in Christ? You all will remain in my prayers today.
Blessings to each of you. May you feel His love all around you. God is good!

Good morning back at ya Melissa!! I planted some crocus and tulips yesterday. Now today it is raining, no pouring!! I hope they don't wash out with all this rain. I am enjoying sitting here and listening to it this morning. I can hear my tulips growing. Oh and it was thundering and lightening here when it began, Melissa. I loved hearing it!

Did not sleep much. The cough is back and kept me up until 2:00. I feel asleep on the couch and dh came and got me sometime between then and when the alarm goes off at six. I am tired of sleeping on the couch and will glad when this is over.

Ginny, I am in prayer for you and your husband. I can't imagine being told I only have six months to live. I know I would constantly be thinking of all the things I would miss. I love the Lord and know He has a mansion but I am only familiar with this current home and all those I love here. God made this world and it is beautiful. It would be horrible to be counting days.

Lumberjack Grand Slam LOL, Ginny, you are a lady after my own heart!! I always said I ate like a lumbar jack. Fortunately, when I was young I never gained weight. When we are traveling I always get a huge breakfast and I think I even embaress dh when they try to find room on the table for my plates. We didn't have much food growing up so guess I, like Scarlett O'Hara, made a vow to "never go hungry again"!

I watch Hailey, who will be 2 years old the end of this month. I got her potty trainned now,

Wow Barb, you did good, girl!! I usually started them at 2. I always dreaded that part but never really had trouble with any of our kids. I probably will play a big part in this with Alex and am not looking forward to it.

Hope everyone has a blessed day!

Good morning, ladies. It's beautiful here today . . sunshine and 54F with a promise of 74 before the day is done! I can live with that!! Crocuses are blooming, jonquils about to pop into bloom any moment, and the surprise lilies are 3-4 inches out of the ground! Spring is coming

I'm getting off to a rough start again this morning. I would have thought yesterday would have been enough to suffice for one week, but guess not. On the phone with bill collectors . . . all over my dr visit back in November and Bill's hospital stay the next week. I can understand the hospital bill . . even tho it was only for one day, we'd not paid any deductible on his insurance yet, so I knew we'd get that. But $1500 for one office visit was just more than I anticipated, and they were completely uncooperative about lowering that so I could pay it off. So, they are getting small monthly payments -- between the 3 bills from that, and at least 3 from Bill's, even small payments can add up. But they are not happy with me. Owell.

Barb, the babies sound so precious. I'm so happy Ilyssa is behaving better for you . . you just had to get a bit of that spoilin' out of her system, huh . . . we are trying the potty training here, but no one is ever on the same page, so what good does it do. He at least seems to be aware, so now we're trying to enlist HIS cooperation entirely instead of just sitting him on the pot and hoping to meet the right time. Never have been fond of that method, and I sure don't have the patience for it these days.

Melissa, hope your day is going well, and headache free. Can't imagine having migraines that last so long. Judy, sure will be good to hear you & hubby are both on the mend. Bill is feeling some better, but very tired from all teh sleep he's missed. Even came home early yesterday, and he never does that.

Gotta run . . to therapy with Garrett, then by to pick up an item form one of the elderly gentlemen I sew for, and take him his laptop battery he had me order. Everyone have a great day!

My husband has nonalcoholic cirrhosis of the liver. This link explains what he is dealing with. My husband has been in bed now for over 3 weeks with severe back pain. His appetite is low and he can't eat much. He sleeps a lot. So far his mental ability is still good but his body is deteriorating.

Melissa, that's the pits the migraines you keep having. I sure hope the meds will help and a handle on that kind of pain is reached. It is no fun to have sharp knives in your head. I promise I'll pray as much as I can.

Judy, lady get well. Get rid of that cough. As far as sleeping on the couch well I do that every night as my husband can't handle someone else in bed with him and I've not got set up another room with a bed yet. As soon as my oldest son gets his stuff removed from the bedroom he used I'll set that up as a guest room and sleep there.

It is already 12:30 and I haven't gotten the taxes mailed yet. I need to do that and then get started on some cleaning. Hubby's bedroom needs to be cleaned.
