Hi, I am JohnD 70X7 (as I understand it there is already a JohnD here). My screen name is short for JohnDBaptiste which I have held since my old MSN / AOL days in the mid 1990's. I have contributed to several message boards and forums over the years and may have bumped into many here in that time. If so, then you know I am coming from the heart of Christ's love for man but particularly for the Church. I have an apologetics background based on scripture and give no personal credence to creeds or traditions of man (which nullify the word of God Mark 7:13). I have done battle for years with the modern "cults" (if I may use that term here), debated controversial doctrines and disputes between mainline and lesser known denominations... etc. But I have not come to stir up any trouble or to "correct" anyone. I will only state a Bible based case or alternative on such matters for others to consider. I believe the basic and foundational doctrines because they are biblically based rather than credal. The Trinity for example, is Bible. The deity of Christ is Bible. And if defended with the Bible, these doctrines hold up. If defended by any other means then the defense is of subjective interpretations of man rather than the objective disclosure of scripture. I am gentile born but am Messianic in faith... which does not mean what most initially think of at the mention of things messianic. I do not believe the Messianic faith should identify with or emulate the form of Judaism that rejected the Messiah. This is a big mistake most Messianic congregations make allowing non-messianic Jews to define Jewishness and setting the standards to "live as a Jew." The Apostle Paul was an Hebrew of Hebrews (Philippians 3:5) defined it thus: Romans 2:28-29 28 For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: 29 But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God. This is by no means a New Testament concept (Deuteronomy 30:6 / Jeremiah 4:4 etc.). Long story short, it has always been about faith (Hebrews 11). I come here only to contribute, help defend the common faith, extend the hand of fellowship, and maybe to offer a point of view folks here may have not considered before... based on the Bible, of course. God bless.

Welcome John. it sound like you an I have a lot in common in our views. I started the explore the roots of our faith when I found out the German in my family was really Jew. I became Messianic when I took the scripture as the sole authority in deciding what is true and what is false.
