Get to know you kids, their likes, dislikes, interest, talents. Ecourage them in their activities, don't put them down in front of people, something my Dad was very good at. Love then, and correct them in a loving way. Remember, they are a gift from God, they grow up fast, and one day they will depart the nest. Let them take good memories with them. Let them know you are still there for them. and want a relationship with them. When they get married it may not be to someone you like, but it's their life, and they have to live with them not you. Like somone said, recently, " You chose him, don't come back here, make the best of it, I've heard that from several people.

I voted for all of them.

I'm not a dad, but my dad never did any of those things with me.

I picked spending time with your kids because I felt that dads need to do all of those things and "spending time" encompassed all of them.

Help them develop to their potential. Encourage their interests. Don't condemn them for being different from you and don't expect them to be something they are not. Accept them as a unique and God-given child.
Show them unconditional love and support.

Time... that's the most important. If you are spending time, then by default you must be doing one or more of the others on that list.

Is your poll for young kids only? Do all of them. As your kids grow older, be involved in their lives. Know who their friends are, know the parents of their friends. Don't be concerned when they tell you you're a creeper or when they tell you to get out of their lives. They want you there. They want to know thay they are the most important thin in your world. And, most importantly, love their mother.

Be able to provide a listening ear and good advice to kids.

My Dad scored well on a number of "good Dad traits" (he died in '09...) and so I can't complain too much.

But he wasn't very good at listening & giving well thought out advice.
